Have an opening in your schedule and would like to fill that spot with a reading? Take advantage of Mass Poetry’s Statewide Events Calendar.

Posting Events

The statewide calendar service provides direct access to the poetry community that can be accessed on your smart phone during your morning commute or when you are snuggled up on your couch. Mass Poetry provides readers, speakers, hosts, and organizations with a convenient place and easy way to post events. The statewide schedule can be accessed by visiting MassPoetry.org and selecting the “Events” tab.

To register an event with Mass Poetry first visit the MassPoetry.org homepage and click “Events,” then select “Submit an Event.”  The page will prompt you to fill out general information about the event, such as the host organization’s name, the venue location, date and time and a brief description. Once the form is completed, select “Submit.”  Once submitted the Mass Poetry team will review your event and post it to the calendar.

If you regularly post events . . .

You can be given permission to automatically post to the events page. If you have any questions on submitting an event or if you organize a series of readings, please direct your submissions and questions to gabrielle@masspoetry.org.

Viewing Events & Receiving Personalized Event Reminders

The Statewide Calendar has multiple viewing features that maximize your time perusing the site. Some perks of the Statewide Calendar include the hover-over function, which brings up a summary of information regarding each event as you scroll through the calendar. The beauty of this feature is that all of the information can be viewed on the same page without opening new browser windows.

Within the same side bar there is a small flag icon. By clicking or hovering over the flag icon, you can even narrow your selection down by venue. Calendar users can also narrow their searches further by searching under host organizations, readers, host, sponsors and other attendees (which all can be located in the same right hand side bar). Mass Poetry’s scheduling system is second to none; the organized calendar sorts readings all in one place.

Calendar Alerts
By creating a profile on our Statewide Calendar, which is done by clicking “Sign up” right above the event listings, users (or “attendees,” as they are referred to on the site) can set event alerts to sync with their mobile devices and personal calendars. Hosts, venues and readers are also able to create individual profiles. These profile pages work much like other social networking sites and leave room for information on the venue, organization or reader. This is a great opportunity for Mass Poetry users to share links to poetry events or more information on a venue or organization. The statewide calendar schedule automatically sends an email reminder for upcoming events that you have selected.

Happy Scheduling!
